A cold, empty manor turned into a house people enjoy again
An overseas client's investment property, standing empty and unloved. Refurbished throughout for the short-term rental market.
The brief
An overseas owner had almost by accident ended up with an investment property on their newly acquired estate. The property had been empty for some time and now was cold and gloomy. The brief was a full refurbishment to a standard that would let it compete at the top of the local market.
01 — The house as found
Empty, cold, unloved
Good bones and generous rooms, but nothing to hold a guest: no warmth and no particular reason to choose it. It did, however have potential with room for 14 adults and space to allow them to stay comfortably.
02 — Renovate
High standard, trusted trades
We completed a full refurbishment to a high standard, delivered by trusted local tradespeople. Where possible we completed the tasks in house to optimise the budget spend.
The furnishing mixed sensible essentials with statement pieces collected specifically for the house. High-end luxe where a guest touches it, sustainable and sensible where they don't.

The detail“A quintessential AGA in the kitchen, and bedding worth getting into.”
Fully equipped kitchen built around the AGA, high-quality bedding and linens throughout, and a large garden furnished properly for sitting out.
03 — Operate
A house for every market
Set up to suit families, groups and gatherings rather than one narrow audience, driving bookings across the year rather than in one season. Managed end to end on the owner's behalf.
The drawing room — somewhere to gather
The games room — rain-day insurance
